Contact Privacy Bug
by
Disgruntled
You'll never find a domain registrant more enraged than me (102 Tocows domains). In my opinion Tucows is using "contact privacy" data to deliberately block transfer/renewal/redemption of domains before and after the initial 40 day grace period has expired. Case in point: Tucows RSP Forethought.net attempted RSP transfer of GrowSprouts.com on June 8 (day 39 of expiry after April 30 expiration). Transfer was technically impossible on OpenSRS. Then on June 22 (day 53 of expiry) Forethought was unable to initiate redemption and got aproximate error: domain not in database. A massive exchange of emails with Complaince has been met with denial of any problem and denial of Tucows leak revealing that OpenSRS has had a known issue with a so-called "contact privacy bug". I have plenty of experience with Tucows and your web site. If the contact privacy page is not a bug, then it's a deliberate means to block all recovery methods at all stages and a contradiction of your FAQ pages promising access to the normal transfer options before and redemption after initial grace period expires. Elliot, a registered international letter is en-route to your desk. And Tucows is going to have a huge PR problem if I don't see the human side of your company soon. That goes tenfold if I lose my domain.
